You’ve probably already heard of Sample Magic, the audio magicians from London who make some of the best – and most awarded – dance sample/loop collections in the world. They’re all available at SoundToSample, *the* one stop shop for high quality audio material. But what you may not know is that head honchos Sharooz and Jake Island – the tricksters behind Sample Magic – are heavy Ohm Force users, counting the ALL-ALL Bundle as a key part in their audio processing arsenal.
They’ve just announced their brand new Dubstep and Grime library, hot on the heels of their Tribal and Tech-House, and to celebrate are offering a nice freebie of THREE LIBRARIES OF YOUR CHOICE for some lucky Ohm people out there. Want to grab them? All you have to do is to post a picture of you in your studio. The only two requirements are: the computer screen must show some Ohm plugins interfaces and you must be in an “audio magician” pose. Each of the three winners will be able to pick three Sample Magic libraries of choice, for free, worldwide shipping or instant download through www.soundstosample.com. The pictures will be judged by the Sample Magicians themselves in their London HQ. Make-up and dressing up allowed. Rabbits and all domestic animals not allowed. The picture (or the link to it) must be posted on the comments section of this blog post, until November 30th 2009.
If you’re coming from the link that you’ve just clicked on our August newsletter, it’s at this post’s comments section where you should leave the link for the picture that proves that youyou should be a little bit faster next time, this little contest is from now closed: it’s Thom, the guy who posted the picture from the link below who’s got a copy of the ”Electro House Revolution Vol.1″ DVD from Sound Of Revolution. (…) You have no idea what we’re talking about? What?? Haven’t you subscribed to Ohm Force’s newsletter yet? No donut for you this time, but if you go there and leave your mail in the right form, you won’t miss next month’s promo and giveaways…
What will be a great thing to do during this summer? Making music, of course! What about participating at this year’s edition of the Summer Electronic Music Games, the yearly contest organised by SectionZ? SEMG’s first edition happened during the summer of 2004 and experimented a wide success, with up to 11 different events, more than 200 entries and live web broadcast shows for the results announcements and playback. Since then it became a tradition, getting bigger year after year, specially the prize vault: for 2009’s edition more than U$ 60,000 in pro-audio related goodies have been donated by top industry names, and of course you’ll read the Ohm Force name on that list. Second and third places of each event will put their hands in a OhmBoyz delay and the “4 on 4 relay fresstyle” (a ‘four style in a row’ competition ) big winner will get nothing less than an ALL-ALL Bundle with all our plug-ins. If you enjoy musical challenges you should participate in the contests, listen, review submitted tracks and promote your own within and beyond the SectionZ community. Non members can freely download or stream music just as easily as members.
We’ve just received this picture: an ohmfriend from Barcelona enjoying this summer while having a walk through the narrow streets of the Barrio Gotico, wearing the nicest t-shirt in town Where to grab one Ohm-Shirt for you? Here, and they can be shipped worldwide…
“Can the pupil overcome the master?”, one may ask. You’ll now be able to see with your own eyes and – specially – listen with your own ears: rhythminmind from the “Signal to Noize” blog posted an in-depth comparison between the real Moog Voyager hardware synth and our Minimonsta:Melohman virtual instrument. Listen to the 24bit samples of each waveform then take a look at the graphs….
Seventh and last cohmpetition submission comes from Portugal, from the cave of the GreenWizard, who shares with the whole ohmworld how he prepares his Minimonsta:Melohman wizardry. In this ‘more like a tutorial’ video you’ll be able to see how he tweaks each parameter section of the synth, and specially finally understand – seeing how it actually works – that the Melohman preset morphing feature is indeed MUCH easier to use than one could imagine, and obviously one of the most powerful synth tool you’ll have in your sonic arsenal.
Did you know that come from Guatemala the biggest ring modulation fans in the world? Miguel Zea aka Venomeza is indeed one of them. “Reeeaally basic stuff made with some Ohmforce plugins for the Cohmpetition contest. This tutorial proves that Ohmforce plugins can go as deep as you’re ready to. Plugins used: Quad Frohmage, Predatohm, OhmBoyz & Cohmpost all in FLS” says the video description, and what we were able to see is that with some Ohm Force plugins and some evil feelings inside your head it’s possible to transform cheesy sounds into nice (and useful!) pieces of sound. Ok, not that useful if we talk about the Cohmpost part at the end of the video, but it’s never too much listening to all that horny cats…
Fourth submission for the Ohm studio video cohmpetition comes from Seattle, WA, USA. It’s got live studio footage. It’s got screen-cap tutorial. It’s got intrigue! Flynn Price shows that you haven’t seen it all in your life: yes, it’s possible to have a studio set up 1 meter from a wash machine and two meters from a kitchen. And 50cm from his daughter’s cradle, where she’s probably amazed by the odd sounds achieved on that Symptohm:Melohman. You might say that it’s all about loving music, and Flynn will surely agree.
