Former Smashing Pumpkins drummer, currently Morrissey’s one, Ohmicide:Melohman addict and ohmfriend Matt Walker recently spent some time in Paris due Morrissey’s concert. He benefited from the moment to come visit our Ohm Force headquarter and have some off-the-spotlight lunch time at L’Escalier just in front of the Ohm cave. Really really nice to meet him live and realize that despite being rockstar he’s just a cool guy like me and you (ahn?)  - what made him deserve an actual Ohmforcian title: Drum Force ! The Ohm Force team make a big roll to this guy, and you can benefit from the moment to some weird french color names…

This time the Melohman vibes come from Austria, land of the wild – yet highly domesticable – Oinky Poinky specimens. The Oinky Poinky Demixed track was done using only the Symptohm:Melohman synth and fried sugar’n'nutella toasts. Denis Klutch is an ohmfriend from Saint-Petersburg, Russia. He’s a former chiptune/tracker composer, but there’s a piece of gear that made him come to the DAW+plugin side of the force. Beside kick and snare sounds, which have been created with his Waldorf Attack, all his tracks were made with Symptohm:Melohman Performer Edition. There’s a remix for Sasha’s Mongoose and another for Beastie Boys’ Body Movin’ – among some other lo-tek tunes..

With this “The Ohm Side of the Moon Vol.1″ you’ll understand that the Ohm backstage is actually frightening froody, despite the brain damage that coding plug-ins can make. Zombies have always been excellent company for a weekend. A point of view that our ohmfriend John H. Van Eaton very probably shares, specially after his recent work on the FX and soundtrack for new Urbanchillers’ horror comedy movie “E-Discordia Dating for Zombies & the Undead” trailer. A lot of Symptohm:Melohman, several Ohmicide:Melohman spices, some Quad Frohmage sugar and a loads and loads of blood!

Being a Celldweller fan. It’s the kind of thing we think that happens only at other people’s families, until the day we surprisingly see it happening within our own kingdom. And what should we do, then? Well, if you think we’re going to lock a friend in one of Ohm Force cave’s abandoned dark rooms and feed him with a defrosted pizza, you’re completely mistaken! We’re open minded people and we do accept – and respect – our friends as they are. Nevertheless, Klayton/Celdweller is a first-time Ohmicide:Melohman user, what shows that he’s indeed a clever guy. And it’s true that he sculpted some very nice distorted landscapes in his tunes, which fits very well with his…. euh… we better stop here, otherwise you’ll start to think that there’s more than one fan here. Not at all, everything is under control!

One of Ohm Force’s most important goals has always been to deliver top quality audio plug-ins at attractive prices. That’s what we’ve been doing since the very first beginning nine years ago. Nevertheless, despite our internal Ohm values one external and global factor came to change these proportions. Last year’s financial collapse has been like a worldwide earthquake and, in addition of all its global consequences, here at the Ohm Force headquarter it made us think a lot about how we’ve been managing our own activity as plug-in makers. And which directions we’d want to take from now. We don’t aim to perform any in-depth analysis of capitalism’s current situation: as a music software company we’d just want to tell you what have been our thoughts. And specially the actions coming from them.

Even when talking about great effects, we do believe that audio plugins are not supposed to be something expensive, exclusive for those with big budgets. We don’t want to let Ohm Force’s effects become some more “plugins for rich people”, what started to happen specially from our American customers’ point of view due Euro’s recent big rise. A few marketing directors could say that there are still enough music producers with comfortable budgets in the world to keep the plugin industry going on but, at least for us, it wouldn’t be fun anymore. So why shouldn’t we go beyond the attractive pricing? Shouldn’t good software for make good music actually be affordable, still being a part of the huge revolution made by the computer based music production? Not only it’s time to ask ourselves these questions but also to take the initiative to answer them, instead of just waiting other people to do it.

So as an audio software company Ohm Force is doing its part and announcing: we’re globally reducing our advertised prices. And it’s not a promo: it’s for real and forever. We still do want to make money and be rewarded for our hard work: it’s still business, but let’s keep it reasonable.

Of course we’re glad to sell plugins forsuperstars, but we’re even happier when an indie youngster make the effort to invest in some Ohm Force plugins to pimp his home-studio. There are still so many new talents to be heard, so music heads of the world, let’s spend less, and produce more!
