Ten days ago several streets of Paris were taken by a HUGE dancing crowd. Technoparade 2008, as always produced by the technopol collective, once again have shown the world as popular and important the electronic music is – and despite parade’s name, virtually every electronic style have been represented, not only techno. Our ohmfriend DJ Franck De Villleneuve was there, at the pick-ups of the first truck, opening the path with a soulful electro set – in wich he was able to play several of his own tracks, all of them made with heavy doses of OhmBoyz, QuadFrohmage and Symptohm:Melohman. Such a great time: blue sky, good music for the masses, and an ohmfriend leading the way… 🙂

In this life we’ve already seen a lot of bizarre things – and you know we love them! – but this EGG “synth” has really surprised us. Craig Dorety made it with a 1000 years old (!!!) easter egg made of paper that used to belong to his grandmother, putting in it a white noise generator and a FM radio transmitter. The outside surface has two metalic touchpoints and some light-sensitive captors that enable someone to “play” the white noise as music notes… (and we thought *our* stuff was weird… how naif we’ve been…)
Sometimes is hard to find nice internet radio shows in internet’s ocean of options, specially when all we want is to listen to some good music and, why not, laugh a little in order to forget all this world bitterness. That’s why you must check out “Planet Pootwaddle”, a music/humour broadcast made by our ohmfriend Michael Sheehy, with the help of a kind of crazy crew. In their own words, the show is “an oasis of ear candy, where we celebrate music simply for the love of music … Without commercials or other cheesy distractions. We provide our own cheesy distractions thank you! If it ain’t fun, what’s the point? Planet Pootwaddle is an extensive collection of both familiar and eclectic music coupled with a healthy dose of 12 year old boy humor and all seamlessly bound together with our unique blend of production, or as we like to call it jingle magic“…
Jack McOck aka Dominic Réamonn (Geneva, Switzerland) strikes again. After making one of the funniest video tutorials ever, now the guy gets back to his original talents: music composing and production. His track “I 8 Your Chips” is really nice and would have been the perfect soundtrack to the end of Spielberg’s “Artificial Intelligence”, when hundreds years later the android-boy is rescued from the ocean by the machines who now rule the planet, what we realize as they take the transparent cubic elevator to take him to the examination room…
With a bit of an Autechre influence, McOck has abused of FIVE instances of Ohmicide:Melohman to achieve these sounds. As sources, Logic’s Ultrabeat and Rob Papen’s Predator were all he’s used. If you’ve enjoyed it, pay a visit to his site and leave him a comment! Have you also made a nice track using Ohm Force plug-ins and want to show it to the ohmworld? Drop us a mail!
The hearts of all the Pink Floyd fans have been shot by a bullet. Yesterday Rick Wright has gone, after a big fight against cancer. Rick was not only great at the piano or synths: he was also great composer. “Shine On Your Crazy Diamonds” was his. Also “Summer 68”, one of Red Force’s favorite songs.
You sung “The time has gone, the song is over, thought I’d something more to say”. You have said more than most, Rick. Thank you for everything.
Since two of the Ohm men work remotely from remote locations, full Ohm staff live meetings doesn’t happen every day. Yesterday we had one, to discuss about the philosophical aspects of the feline reproduction cycle. And there was also some arguing and fight, of course – but at the end we always find a way to unify all our ideologies, and this time it wasn’t different. Clockwise, from the guy at the extreme right: Blue Force, Mauve Force, Red Force, Yellow Force, Grey Force, Ivory Force (we can’t show him in the picture ’cause he’s actually searched by Interpol for some things he’s done in the past) and finally Plum Force, the guy with a beard dressing a white t-shirt (do you recognize him? if not, look at the little video loop at the right side of our site and come back here again). Green Force took the picture and Fuschia Force was coding the hell out of his keyboard. Orange Force? He was late for the meeting, keeping his traditions.
